New CD
January 6, 2008
Today, after returning from an Arabic car wash with picturesque views of the Mediterranean I stopped off at the Haifa Carmel Bus Station as I waited for bus 123, Neve Shaanan. There, I stopped off at Tower Records and picked up the 1996 Faithless album, Reverence.
A few days ago I saw the video for ‘Insomnia’ revitalizing my love for Faithless that all began with ‘God Is a DJ’. I can’t believe it’s taken so long to pick up the album. I remember I first encountered the song on a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong en-route to Mumbai, India. I would encounter the video for the song about a month later while experiencing insomnia at Hotel Tip Top.
It’s a well done album that peaks out on track 11, The Way Out West mix of Salva Mea. Maxi Jazz’s lyrics are simply simplistic and truthful. It’s refreshing to hear poetic raps against danceable house tracks. Beautiful… I can’t remember the last time I purchased a CD.
